Read MoreThis protector is easy to set up and easy to use. The keystone feature, multi-function remote, Wi-Fi, and casting capability are my favorite features. It wirelessly connected to my G6 easily without having to use an extra Google cast device or similar.
The menu system is very detailed and gives you a lot of control. One cool thing is, I get to choose the color of the wall on which the image will be projected and that automatically optimizes the output color setting accordingly.
I have tested both devices and I would like to help you choose between Optoma HD142X vs Epson 2045. They use different projection systems, Epson uses 3LCD and Optoma uses the DLP technology. If we compare brightness then we see that Optoma wins with its 3000 lumens (versus Epson with 2200 lumens only). However, Optoma has worse contrast ratio – 23000:1 when Epson has 35000:1. Epson supports the Miracast and Intel WiDi streaming technologies, but Epson has the MHL support. Moreover, Epson has a mini-B USB port, while Epson does not.
The main advantage of Epson Home Cinema 2045 is its contrast ratio – the colors are vivid and the image is crisp. The disadvantage is that it may require you to find a well-vented place for it since it heats up quickly.
The advantage of Optoma HD142X is that it can perform great even in a fully lighted room. The disadvantage is that you can have to get some video artifacts (red and green lines) when you switch devices, and switching may take some time.
If you need to decide what to buy Optoma HD142X or Epson 2045, then consider where you want it to use. If you are going to use in a bright room, then Optoma is right what you need, while Epson performs better at mid-lit places, plus it has many wonderful features, like the wireless connection. Do not forget about the price – Epson will cost you a bit more than Optoma.
