Choosing between Epson Home Cinema 1060 vs ViewSonic PJD7828HDL

Epson Home Cinema 1060 vs ViewSonic PJD7828HDL

Epson Home Cinema 1060 - for perfect watching in any light

Epson Home Cinema 1060This 3LCD projector is truly a great thing if you have a light room for watching! The colors balance is beyond comparison, there are no washes or gleams even in daylight. Except for, I wished it was an inch deeper in blacks. The audio is quite decent for this type of video device - the sound is clean even at high volume. I particularly enjoyed a smart and straightforward menu and simple remote - it let me do the setup within a few minutes. I did not use the buttons on the projector, but they are quite helpful, should the remote get lost during watching.

Epson Home Cinema 1060 PROS:
  • I had a perfect resolution adjustment for my older DVDs.
  • Fast response to the remote - great for carrying out presentations.
  • The USB ports allow connecting a Chromecast and the Flash-USB simultaneously.
Epson Home Cinema 1060 CONS:
  • The actual throw is quite long - not fit for small rooms.
  • The fan noise is audible at lower sound volume.

ViewSonic PJD7828HDL - detail is everything

ViewSonic PJD7828hdlThis DLP projector provides superb picture at any resolution outlining every slightest detail as sharp as can be. I could not trace the pixels from three feet and the contrast is outstanding. Tried the zooming in function and discovered it has no impact to the quality. As with any DLP, a slight rainbow effect can be noticed; yet, it does not spoil the overall stunning crisp picture.

The 10W speaker produces quite pleasant sound. Meanwhile, for the surround effect I connected my Bose 5.1 acoustic system via the AV receiver. The small weight of this device let me hang it on the plastic mount beneath my ceiling without effort.

ViewSonic PJD7828HDL PROS:
  • Bright colors - even in sunlight or on a white wall.
  • Noiseless fan work.
  • I connected several devices via numerous inputs on the projector.
ViewSonic PJD7828HDL CONS:
  • No optical correction available at the short throw.
  • The USB ports do not work simultaneously.

Making the Choice between ViewSonic PJD7828HDL vs Epson 1060

Drawing the comparison chart for these two high-quality devices one must account for the different technologies implemented in them. The Epson 1060 provides a richer color range due to the 3LCD tech and is easier to set up due to the automatic vertical correction (which, though, is performed in digital, leading to a slight almost non-visible distortion). The ViewSonic PJD7828HDL has a short throw that allows using it even for small rooms and can be used for video games.

Making your purchase decision, consider the possibility to connect the soundbar to the ViewSonic PJD7828HDL via the audio mini-jack directly (no such option is available with Epson). Besides, it has a side compartment where the Alexa Cast cylinder or frequently needed USB Flash can be put. Meanwhile, the small price of the Epson 1060 and its abundance of tuning options make it a worthy alternative to consider.
