Although extremely overpriced Epson Home Cinema 5040UB vs 3700 offers some extremely cool features. For example, the F-number is 2-3 which means that you get a much deeper picture. The projector has a vertical correction manual, plus/minus 30 degrees. The contrast ratio is also pretty impressive. So if you are willing to pay over 2k for some latest technology I say go for it.

3700 projector is a bit more simple. Epson Home Cinema 3700 vs 5040UB is much lighter and the dimensions are also much smaller. For example, 12.6 inches length in comparison to 20.5 inches and 9.5 pounds weight compared to 24.3 pounds. 5040UB is packed with different cool technologies and thus weighs about 25 pounds but no speakers. For the price point, you are expected to buy separate speakers probably.

No wireless option available in 3700 but you have a USB, a mini USBI, an HDMI and an audio output. Versus the counterpart, 3700 has a horizontal correction manual, plus/minus 30 degrees. The price points are also extremely different, 3700 is about 1.3-1.4k depending on the store. I would say ultimately the choice depends on whether you just need a universal projector for the whole family or a hi-tech toy to please your inner geek.
