I had a chance to test these two models and I would like to share my thoughts that will help you choose the right model.
These two projectors can be a perfect option for people who value good image output. Both models produce much heat. Another flaw of these models is their speakers - both are quite weak. There are some differences as well.
They use different projections systems – Epson 2030 uses 3LCD, while PowerLite 1781W uses the Liquid Crystal Shutter. What is more important is the video quality – the native resolution of Epson 2030 is 1920x1080 versus 1280x800 of PowerLite 1781W. Epson 2030 also wins when it comes to the contrast ratio – compare 15000:1 versus 10000:1. However, PowerLite 1781W has better brightness – 3200 lumens while Epson 2030 has only 2000. Therefore, Epson PowerLite 1781W would be a better option for a brighter environment, since you will not lose any details. PowerLite 1781W also has a wireless module, while Epson 2030 does not have this feature.
If you want to understand what to buy - Epson PowerLite 1781W vs Epson 2030, then consider where you are going to use the projector. PowerLite 1781W is more mobile and it is better for a bright environment, but it has a poor speaker, while Epson 2030 supports Full HD and 3D video output, but it has compatibility issues.
