The Huion Kamvas GT-191 is a mid-priced drawing tablet that was released in 2017. It’s remarkable for having a large display that shows a high-quality picture at a wide viewing angle (the image quality doesn't deteriorate even at 178°).
The Huion GT-191 Kamvas is compatible with macOS (10.11 or late) and Windows (7-10). The tablet has two ports: USB and HDMI (both cables are included in the package).
Connect the tablet to your PC using the power adaptor, USB and HDMI cables. Then, install the driver. The manufacturer recommends downloading the Huion Kamvas GT-191 driver from the Huion official website instead of using the included CD to ensure that you have the latest version as it updates on a regular basis. If the installation is successful, the corresponding icon will appear in the system tray of your PC.
The Huion GT-191 has an IPS HD display that provides a sharp and vivid image being able to reproduce 16.7 million color shades. The 120% sRGB Color Gamut ensures a smooth color transition. The display also has an anti-reflective coating. In general, drawing on this tablet is a real pleasure. However, sometimes, a rainbow effect can be noticed on the display.
The included pen-like stylus has 8192 levels of pressure which make it easy to achieve a pixel-level painting and provides a more precise and natural drawing experience. It also features tilt support with ±60 recognition for a more convenient drawing and has a one-touch eraser function. The pen doesn’t have a battery inside, so you never have to worry about its charging. It can be stored in an included donut-style holder. The kit also includes 10 pen nibs.
One of the best things about this tablet is its compatibility with various software. And not only with those that are designed for drawing and picture editing, but it also works with PowerPoint, Word, etc.
The Huion GT 191 comes with a slider-style stand that can be adjusted to 20°– 80°. It’s a very pleasant addition as, normally, you have to buy a stand separately.
The tablet size is 11.7 x 18.7 x 1.4 inches and weighs 13 pounds. Such dimensions make it convenient for work but barely suitable for frequent transportations. The frame that surrounds the display isn’t slim and adds more size to the already large screen. The body of the tablet is mainly made of black plastic.
The Huion GT-191 Kamvas doesn't have the customizable keys on its body as most drawing tablets do. Instead, there are 5 control buttons on the right side of the bottom bezel: Auto Mode, Down/Up buttons to adjust the contrast ratio and display resolution, Select, and Power on/off buttons. There is also a small green LED power indicator.
The drawing surface (17.12 x 9.37 inches) has a matte, paper-liked texture.
Finishing this Huion GT-191 review, I can say that this model is mainly remarkable for having a large, bright display that shows a high-quality picture. The buttons on the tablet’s body give you control over the display resolution/contrast settings which I find very convenient. It will come in handy for more experienced users rather than beginners. Large display dimensions make it a great solution for large, complex projects.
