Video production

The Reolink RLC423 has 5 megapixels super HD and a resolution of 2560x1920 pixels, providing clear images, even at night. To test the efficiency of its 4X zoom, I used it at an event to record the far end of the hall. The feed was surprisingly crystal clear, and there was not much grain as I expected.

It has six infrared LEDs, guaranteeing long-distance night vision, which is where many cameras fail. The Reolink RLC-423 will provide camera coverage reaching up to 190 feet in poor lighting conditions.

The Reolink RLC 423 rotates 360 degrees horizontally and 90 degrees vertically, then zooms in and out four times to give you both a close feed and a wide-angle feed, depending on what you might need. The camera provides a live view of your entire surroundings, leaving no area blind or dead for 24 hours.

Connection types

Like every other PTZ camera, the Reolink RLC 423 comes with an Ethernet cable that you can use to manage the video stream. After, you will need to add an external microphone for audio as the device doesn’t have one built-in. Connect the microphone to the Audio-in (RCA) port using an RCA Male to RCA Male adapter.

For power, I prefer to use a single network cable to connect my camera to the PoE NVR. This connection makes the PoE NVR transmit power to the RLC 423.

I prefer the latter between using the Ethernet cable and sticking to a WiFi connection. It’s a more effortless connection.

Setup

Download the app, follow the instructions and set it up; it’s pretty easy. You can power the device using an adaptor, an 802.3at compliant PoE switch, or a network cable to link the device with the PoE NVR.

After powering the device, get a network cable, plug the Reolink NVR into the socket behind the PoE switch, and the camera will work. Then you can connect it with the Reolink app and start controlling its functions.

Conclusion

I will still rank the Reolink RLC-423 above other PTZ cameras like it. The specs, connection types, and setup sometimes work just as I want. I would recommend, in a heartbeat, the RLC 423 to anyone seeking a better surveillance solution than what they have now.

The camera quality provides clear images. The night vision is impressive, and the tilt to provide a 360-degree view of the environment is a big catch. With the zoom-in feature, you can make out the image of a person clearly, if you ever need to.

I would rate the Reolink RLC 423 a 7 out of 10 because of these features.
