GAOMON PD1560 review

Gaomon PD1560: a Mid-Range Tablet with 10 Shortcut Buttons

The Gaomon PD1560 is manufactured by Gaomon, a less-known brand in the world of digital tablets that focuses on handwritten and animated digitized products. The drawing tablet is a mid-range pen tablet with exciting features for beginners and hobbyists at an affordable price.

Setup

Setting up the Gaomon PD1560 15.6 inch tablet was straightforward; however, you might spend some time setting up the drawing tablet, depending on the hardware you use. After unboxing the tablet, I powered it up, connected it to my Windows 10 laptop, and then installed the Gaomon drivers. They were installed in less than 15 minutes, and the PD1560 was ready for its first project. Furthermore, after installing the drivers, I hooked up the display and installed the sturdy monitor stand using the four screws for added comfort while working on big projects.

Features

The PD1560 Gaomon features a 15.6-inch IPS screen with an HD resolution of 1920 x 1080 and a 16:9 aspect ratio with a viewing angle of 178 degrees. The tablet has a 72 percent NTSC color gamut but was only able to produce 55 percent RGB which is excellent for basic projects but might become an issue for projects that require reproducing accurate color.

Furthermore, the digital tablet comes with a smooth and responsive rechargeable stylus with a small air gap between the nib and the cursor. The stylus has a pen pressure of 8192 pressure levels, a resolution of 5080 LPI, and a report rate of 266 PPS. Also, the stylus lacks tilt support and an eraser but offers two reprogrammable buttons that can serve as an eraser. Moreover, the stylus sports a stand that doubles as a nib container for eight spare nibs. The drawing tablet comes with a two-finger glove to keep the screen smudge-free. The glove is made from a soft, stretchy material that fits most right- or left-handed artists.

Design

It is interesting to see that the Gaomon PD 1560 has an impressive classical design and feel. It's made from smooth, sturdy plastic, and the screen area is almost covered in glass. The left part of the tablet screen houses eight large and two small shortcut keys that allow you to draw with one hand while the other hand presses the shortcut keys. In addition, the drawing tablet is covered with a thick bezel, yet the tablet is thin and lightweight for its size. The tablet lacks any bulge to hide the 3-in-2 cable connections; hence, the USB-C and HDMI both sit on the right side of the display, which makes the cables always visible. However, the wires do not interfere while drawing with the tablet.

Conclusion

Having read through our Gaomon PD1560 review, you will notice that while the tablet is suitable for beginners, a professional might feel differently. While testing the tablet, I noticed that the screen only offers a 55 percent RGB color gamut which is not excellent for professional projects. However, while the tablet sports eight shortcut keys, the keys do not have markings, only raised dots and dashes.
