The Benq HT2050 is a mid-priced DLP projector endowed with a lot of home theater features, including even 3D support. It provides a Full HD (1920 x 1080) image resolution and offers a super-bright image thanks to 2200 lumens brightness level.
Place the projector according to the recommendations that are given in the manual. After that, connect the projector to the source: to DTV tuner, DVD/Blu-ray player via HDMI port, to PC via USB/RGB (PC) port. Then, turn the projector on and adjust the projection with the help of focus/zoom rings. For further picture adjustment, press the “menu” button on the remote or projector.
When it comes to projectors, one of the main issues that you face is poor brightness level in daylight conditions, but the Benq HT 2050 eliminates this problem. It is equipped with an ISF-certified calibration system for convenient day/night viewing adjustment.
The 15000:1 contrast ratio provides a clear image. Moreover, this model also features special CinematicColor technology that improves the projector’s performance by showing accurate and vivid colors for a true-to-life picture. That is why the HD2050’s color reproduction meets the Rec.709 HDTV international standard. The only disadvantage I’ve noticed in terms of image quality is some rainbow glare in the black-and-white video.
This projector is universal for both small and large rooms as it’s able to provide a 100-inch picture at a distance of up to 8.2 feet.
For even more flexibility, the Benq HT250 is equipped with an integrated 10W stereo speaker. It’s housed in special, resonant-sound chambers and is powered by Benq’s patented CinemaMaster Audio Enhancer. So don’t be fooled by its power level: the speaker is able to deliver quite booming and volumetric sound as for its size.
The whisper quiet fan emits only 29 dB of noise, making the HT2050 one of the quietest projectors in its class, so the excessive noise won’t disturb you from viewing.
The SmartEco mode helps save energy and increases the Benq HT2050 lamp life up to 7000 hours (the auto standby mode is present as well). Except for the SmartEco mode, there are also Normal, Economic, LampSave, and LumenCare lamp modes.
The kit includes a lens cover, power cord, remote control, and a Benq HT2050 manual. Despite the fact that Benq produces 3D glasses, they aren't included in the kit which is quite disappointing.
The Benq HT2050 is a white-colored projector with a glossy finish and stylish rounded edges. It has quite extensive dimensions of 14.9 x 4.8 x 10.9 inches and weighs 7.27 pounds, so it can’t offer portability.
On its top panel, you will find focus/zoom rings, and some standard control buttons (OK, Power, Back, Source, Menu, Volume level) and temperature warning, lamp status, power indicator lights. In addition, there are also arrow buttons that allow for manual correction of the distorted image.
The rear panel contains 2 HDMI ports, USB type-A and mini USB ports, RGB (PC) signal input jack, RS-232 control port, component video inputs, audio L/R, and audio input jacks, as well as an audio output jack.
There are also holes for ceiling mount at the rear of the unit. For standing positioning, the projector is equipped with 4 adjustable feet.
So, what can I say in the conclusion of this HT2050 review? This projector is definitely a worthy option for cinema lovers. It’s 3D-compatible, has a high level of brightness, and includes a lot of other features to provide a true cinematic experience. The surprisingly high-quality 10W stereo speaker appears to be a pleasant addition.
